On Sunday, April 25, East Church Music Director Lynn Salmonsen opened her beautiful home to friends and members for an unforgettable afternoon of music performed by Laura McLean, soprano, Scott Woolweaver, viola and Lynn, piano. The brunch itself was as unforgettable as the music, and the setting, on Quincy's Houghs Neck, provided the perfect compliment to exceptional food, warm fellowship and inspired musicianship.
Organized by the Growth and Development committee. Concert featured singer/songwriter Glenn Kidder and the Men's Chorus from the Boston Community Choir under the direction of Brother Dennis Slaughter. This event was also the debut for East Church's "Bread and Honey" baking mission, led by Susan Harvey.
Palms, Processions, Hosannas, a Pony to ride... and no rain!
Most likely our most boisterous event of the year!
The first Sunday in the season of Advent features a service in which the Church School presents readings explaining the elements used symbolically to increase our understanding and appreciation of the season, such as evergreen garlands, holly swags and poinsettia plants. Between each reading an Advent hymn is sung by the congregation and the children and youth decorate the sanctuary with that element.
Willard and Shirley, besides being well-loved members of the East Church community, love to cruise. In recognition of their planned 101st cruise, Coffee Fellowship on November 8, 2009 was all about cruising!
