Hooray for the wondrous third annual Neighborhood Block Party on Saturday, October 17, hosted by East Church in conjunction with the Frends of Crane's Field. It was a bright, blustery, crisp, and beautiful day. Susan Harvey once again worked tirelessly with Ken, one of our neighbors, to orchestrate a fantastic party for well over 120 people ranging in age from eleven days to ninety-seven years old! An abundance of canned and boxed goods were donated and our 50/50 raffle netted $226 for the Milton Food Pantry. Many East Church volunteers were on hand on Saturday and donations from The Fruit Center, Abby Park, The Plate, Stop & Shop, and Star Market complemented the goodies neighbors brought with them. Three of our teens, Ruby, Elena, and Sarah, painted the faces of many children, Dan Harvey ran games for the kids, and the Full Turn Band, with Jason English and a guest appearance by Ben Pinola on guitar, rocked us all. Our very active Reading Changes Lives literacy initiative hosted a book swap and were thrilled to have Milton Selectwoman Katie Conlon and State House Representative Walter Timilty on hand for the dedication of our brand new Little Free Library on the church lawn. Thank you to all who helped make this a stellar East Church happening!
