Church School at East Church
Sunday school starts for children at the kindergarten level and continues through the eighth grade. Children are usually grouped by one or two consecutive grades (for example: K-1, 2nd and 3rd graders, etc.). Sunday school runs from September through mid-June, following school calendars generally.
We Believe is a curriculum that connects both church life and home life. The We Believe curriculum offers many opportunities to learn about God through drama, music, arts and crafts and worship. The lessons highlight age appropriate resources with step by step lesson plans for our teachers to follow. All ages study variations on the same theme of the lesson each Sunday (based on grade level). At the same time, the adults and youth in worship are studying the same scripture. This continuity makes for great conversation starters with families after worship.

East Church celebrates Communion for all ages on the first Sunday of each month, and on special occasions. East Church welcomes all to the Lord’s Table to share communion. Children join their families or are accompanied by their Sunday School teachers. The ultimate decision as to whether or not a child will receive communion is made by the parents.
First Communion Education is offered in Sunday School typically around the second grade, but is open to anyone.
