About East Congregational Church
A Brief Overview
East Congregational Church is a warm and vibrant community of seekers located in Milton, Massachusetts. You might have gathered that this whole web site is about East Church, but this page summarizes some of the aspects we feel define us.
East Church is an Inclusive Community
Welcome one another, therefore, as Christ has welcomed you.
Romans 15:7
We believe that each person is created in the image of God, and consequently we invite all people who seek to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ into the full life and ministry of this church.
As a tangible expression of that core belief and in keeping with the words of scripture above, East Church voted in 2004 to become an Open and Affirming church, explicitly extending our welcome to all regardless of sexual orientation.
East Church is Accessible
My house shall be a house of prayer for all people.
Isaiah 56:7
East Church is fully accessible. An elevator serves all floors of the building and is accessed from the back parking lot. Large-print bulletins and Bibles are available in the narthex, as you enter the church.
East Church Values Children and Youth
Let the children come to me for to such belongs the kingdom of God.
Luke 18:16
All young people are most welcome in our worship. A special message for the children is usually included in our service after which they leave for their Sunday School classes. Our children and youth participate in worship as members of the Millennium and Youth Choirs or serving as ushers and readers. They are welcome at the Communion Table, at the discretion of their parents.

East Church Serves the Wider Community
…building and serving community… from Our Vision
For over 150 years, East Congregational Church has been an integral part of the Milton community. Beginning in the 19th century when church women gathered to roll bandages for the Union Army to the present with our support of groups such as AA and Quincy Choral Society, the church building has always provided a place for groups to meet. In addition, members and friends have extended our ministry to the wider community. We go into greater depth in the Serving Community portion of our web site.
